Half life 3 is never coming out

Lets say if Dota 2, Steam or any of that stuff didn't exist, guess what would happen? Valve would keep reiterating H元, re-doing stuff, spending massive amounts of money on it and so on (trying to make a game thats as mind blowing for it's time as HL2 was for it's time) until they've nearly run out of money. That's like blaming a random store in an entire mall because you have a problem with another store in that same mall. There are probably multiple factors in why H元 has thus far never released, and we'll never know for sure, but outright blaming what is basically a different team for something they probably had no part in is dumb. A group of people within Valve decide they wanna make a card game but then all of a sudden they're the blame for no H元? If group A decides to work on something (Dota 2) and Group B decides to work on something (H元) and group B disbands or the project never finishes for some reason, how does that have any fault on group A who only worked on their own thing? You could maybe try to say that what if group B people decided to move to group A, but that's all irrelevant because we would never know anyway, and even then that is their choice. How would the people at Valve who choose to work on Dota 2 have any bearing on whether Half Life 3 releases or not? They're not stopping anyone from working on it. People can work on whatever they want, it's basically like multiple different teams under one name. People are so quick to blame stuff like Dota 2 and Artifact because it's easy to use those but yet still seem to not grasp how Valve works. As sad as I am not to ever enjoy a real Half-Life game for the first time again, it is understandable.
#Half life 3 is never coming out mod
That and TF2's nine years of developments.Ĭompare that to Counter-Strike, as successful mod that turned into a successful franchise with little pressure for each game, Dota 2, even L4D that was handled by another studio. They don't dislike its universe as they added Portal to it as well as are currently working on HLVR, but the Half-Life/2 arc, basically Gordon Freeman, as legendary as he is, is certainly some of their best but as well their worst memories. Let's be honest, they don't like the way they managed that series, that and the overhype (to say the least) and constant harassement regarding "Half-Life 3" certainly disgusted them from working on Freeman's adventures ever again. Episodes' developement was archaic and multiple extensions got cancelled, notably the Episode 4 that changed hands multiple times before disappearing. They got hacked and the Source Engine got leaked in 2003 and it ruined the morale of the devs. They rebuilt Half-Life shortly before the release date. Half-Life as a whole is linked to chaotic development history for Valve.
